Today was another normal work day for both of us. I overslept again. Francine is incapable of oversleeping. I'm not used to not having any light in the bedroom. We also had issues from home crop up which may or may not be working themselves out. Work was especially good today, despite it being comprised mostly of sitting and watching things on the computer - but they were interesting things, or at least there were occasional glimpses of interesting things.
We are working around the schedule of General Assembly, so we went for a walk around noon. I'm not sure whether the weather is more pleasant today than it had been in the past couple days, but it didn't seem as hot to me. Francine disagreed. We went for a walk to the big market, but it was only about half-open. We found one of the two household items we needed and bought the other one at an Akí. We ran late, and chose to get a loaf of bread and finish the "manchego" cheese we bought the other day. On our walk Francine commented that the uneven sidewalks and the constant up and down off the sidewalk, its built-in steps and variety of other obstacles felt to her like step aerobics, so in a way, walking around itself was like getting exercise.

I worked most of the day in the living (non-air conditioned) areas and felt better. Actually the weather seems to have turned from ridiculously freaking hot to just plain freaking hot. People are still walking around in jeans and long sleeved shirts during the day, though.
Mid-day, while I was watching GA, there comes a knock on the door. When I open it, there stands a withered little woman asking for money. She asked in a away that seemed to presume my compliance, so I gave her a coin. She said thank you and walked off. I'm assuming she'll be back tomorrow. We haven't seen that much in the way of visible poverty. We've seen maybe five or six people - all but one of them men - curled up on the sidewalk against a building at night. There is definitely poverty here, but it looks quite different.

After GA, we went out for dinner. We found a small bar with all kinds of German Beer and German Food. We stayed because they were playing the Rays v. the Red Sox*. On the way home, we got our first marquesita. The first time we say a marquesita was on a YouTube channel that we follow**. Its street food that's essentially a mix of a crepe and a waffle cone, stuffed with melted cheese. They can put all kinds of jelly, Nutella, etc on it, but we got it with just the original and it was delicious.

Francine is finding the place a little dismal, but its growing on me, aside from the ridiculously narrow sidewalks.
And so ends the third day.
Total Steps: 9,154
*The Rays broke a scoreless tie to win on a wild pitch in the bottom 9th with two out. I managed to restrain my reaction.
